Alireza Abbassi Monjezi

Alireza obtained his PhD in solar powered desalination at the University of Surrey. Following 3 years of postdoctoral research at Queen Mary University of London and University of Edinburgh, he founded Waterwhelm in 2018.
Currently, he is an Enterprise Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering providing him with access to world-leading business development training, network of investors and mentorship. He led Waterwhelm to win the 2019 Converge KickStart Challenge among 139 early-stage businesses in Scotland and won the Young Scottish EDGE as the top business founder in Scotland under the age of 30. Waterwhelm was also awarded as the top enterprise from the University of Edinburgh in 2018/19.
