Dr Colin Cunningham FRSA CBiol CEnv MRSB MIEnvSci is an environmental scientist and innovation specialist with over 20 years experience. His first degree is in environmental microbiology from Edinburgh Napier University and his PhD in sustainable treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated industrial land from the University of Edinburgh. Until 2015, Colin led centres of excellence working with industry in the Universities of Edinburgh and Strathclyde (Glasgow), with a focus on innovation in environmental and clean technologies.  

He is an invited expert (2012-) to European Commission (EC) led Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) programme and has served as invited expert (evaluator) and SME coach for the H2020 programme. Colin has wide experience of international research,  in particular with Russia where he has collaborated with Perm State University, since 1998. Since 2015, Colin has served as a non-exec Director of Sustainability Fife LLP, an Arms Length External Organisation of Fife Council with circa £35M turnover. He joined Waterwhelm as a Director in September 2019.
