Dr Marwan Khatib has a PhD in Civil Engineering (Water Projects and Irrigation) from Aleppo University. He has a range of experience, including as a researcher of the Syria Governance Services sector, and teacher at the Etihad Private University and Aleppo University. He conducts research on water and irrigation in the Euphrates basin. He has been working with the Waterfore team to compile available water quality data and take samples for laboratory testing, in addition to liaising with the private sector and Syrian partners to establish the long-term financial sustainability of implementing the Waterwhelm technology. He has conducted many research projects including:

  1. Researcher of the Syria Governance Project (Services sector governance: strategic plan, roles, responsibilities and standards). Project EU, ACU, 2019.

  2. Technical and Economical Comparison of the Best Irrigation Network in the lower Euphrates. 2019.

  3. The reality of investing in the water resources of the Euphrates River and the prospects for their development. 2009.

  4. Suitability of irrigation by sprinkling in the region of Deir-Zor according to characteristics of the soil. 2009.
