Syria Senior Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor, Global Communities

Dr. Anas Al Kaddour is a former academic lecturer at the Horticulture Department of the Agricultural Faculty at Aleppo University, Syria. He is also a potato breeding expert at the General Organization for Seed Multiplication. With over 20 years of experience in the agriculture, food security and livelihoods sector, Dr. Anas currently works as the whole of Syria Senior Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor for Global Communities, a U.S. based non-profit non-governmental organization. In his role with Global Communities, Dr. Anas oversees the Syria Food Security and Livelihoods team, during the last six years, Dr. Anas managed the startup, implementation, and closeout of 17 agriculture, food security, and livelihood programs, funded by USAID (OFDA and FFP), UNOCHA, GIZ, and other private and international donors. For all programs, Dr. Anas develop all related standard operating procedures and agriculture technical manuals in-line with implementing agriculture and livelihoods activities. For each program, Dr. Anas manage a detailed work plan, procurement plan, and financial pipeline tool, to ensure all activities are tracked and delivered according to the plan and budget, as well as delivering technical training on a variety of food security topics to international and local non-governmental organizations. Under the Cara Programme, Dr. Anas participated in several discussions and published some researches and articles about conserving of the plant genetic resources and COVID-19 and displaced Syrians livelihoods along the Turkish-Syrian border.
