Lisa Boden is a Professor at the University of Edinburgh in the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems, and holds a Personal Chair in Population Medicine and Veterinary Public Health Policy. She is a member of the Scottish Science Advisory Council, Scotland’s highest level science advisory body, providing independent advice and recommendations on science strategy, policy and priorities to the Scottish Government.

Professor Boden is leading a programme of One Health research in Scotland/UK, and in fragile and conflict affected regions (such as Syria and surrounding countries- in the One Health FIELD Network) to improve preparedness and timely response to global health and food security threats. Her research focuses on foresighting activities, risk assessment and communication at the science-policy interface. She is interested in the mobilisation of knowledge between researchers, practitioners and decision-makers so that local cultural and technical knowledge and experience can be incorporated into socio-economic development and reconstruction programmes to ensure a successful transition away from humanitarian provision of short-term food supplies and agriculture inputs towards long-term contingency planning for food security and adequate nutrition.
