Tom Parkinson

Tom is Senior Lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) at the University of Kent, UK, where he leads the MA in Higher Education. Tom’s work centres on understanding and supporting international academic exchange and collaboration, particularly between and across the Global ‘North’ and ‘South’, and on building higher education capacity. He has worked on a number of projects related to higher education provision for Syrians, both in exile and in non-Assad-regime-controlled northern Syria, including a recent study with Dr Abdullateef exploring strategies for cross-border distance learning. Tom is a facilitator for the Council for At Risk Academics (Cara) Syria Programme) and chairs the Academic Development steering group.
